“Frequently Asked Questions:”

What is a painting class like?

The classes are a fun and laid back group setting where an art instructor will guide you step-by-step replicating the evening’s featured painting. Absolutely no experience is necessary! We also serve beer and wine, play some great music, and have lots of fun! There is plenty of time to socialize with your date, or friends. Classes last approximately 2 hours with a couple breaks. Everyone is an artist, and we’re confident that you will be sure to go home happy with a painting that is uniquely yours.

Do I need to sign up in advance?

There is limited seating, so we highly recommend signing up in advance. The easiest way is to register online by going to our calendar page, where you be able to view the featured painting for each class. If a class is sold out, please give us a call to be put on our waiting list. Due to last minute cancellations, we can often get you in.

What is the cost?

The class price is usually $35, and includes your canvas, paint and all supplies. A variety of beer and wine, as well as non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. Beer is $3.75 a bottle. We have wine by the glass for $5 – $8 per glass, and we also have a few bottles for purchase as well.

Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! We offer gift certificates in $35 denominations (price of most classes).  You can purchase those right here on our website, and they will be mailed to you, or you can stop in at the studio any time we are open (usually just during class times) to purchase them as well.

What should I wear?

We will provide aprons, but we recommend wearing something you wouldn’t mind getting paint on- just in case! We are using acrylic paints so be sure to leave nice jackets and purses at home! Canvas and Chardonnay cannot be responsible for any paint damage.

Can I bring in food?

Yes, you can bring in food, but per the Health Department, we cannot serve it for you.  Be sure to bring any utensils you will need.

Can I bring in my own wine?

We sell wine, starting at $5 per glass, or $15 per bottle.  We also sell beer, $3.75 per bottle, and soft-drinks, $1.    If you have a special bottle of wine you’d like to enjoy, you may bring that, but there is a $15 corkage fee.  No other alcoholic beverages are permitted to be brought in.

What time do I need to arrive for a class?

For evening classes we open the doors at 6:00pm.  We recommend coming about 15-30 minutes early to get checked-in and pay for your class,  grab some paint and a glass of wine and get the seat of your choice.  We try to start our evening classes promptly at 6:30, so please be courteous to your fellow painters by not arriving late.

Where should I park?
Most of our classes are in the evening or on weekends, so any of the metered parking, and the public ramps  downtown are FREE after 5pm on weekdays, and all weekend.  (Just make sure to double-check this on your meter).   There is also usually available parking behind Top Shots across the street.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sometimes classes are full, and we have a waiting list, so if you need to cancel, we ask that you give us at least 48 hours notice.  Please email us to cancel. This enables us to give the next person on the waiting list ample time to make plans to join us. Cancellations made within 48 hours will be charged. Thank you in advance for your understanding with this policy.

What if there is bad weather, and Canvas & Chardonnay cancels a class?

There would be no cost to you.  If we need to cancel a class, we will hope to be able to re-schedule your class, but you would definitely not be obligated to pay any cancellation charges if you can’t make the new class time.

If I come with a friend or a group, can we all sit together?

We always try to seat friends and parties together, but your best bet, particularly for sold-out classes is to arrive early to get the seating of your choice.

Are kids allowed to come to any class?

Parents can bring their kids to any class.  We recommend ages 12 and up for the regular classes, as the classes are harder, and go longer.  We also have a couple “Kids Day” classes each month, which will be the best fit for younger kids, age 4-12.  The paintings will be a little easier, and the atmosphere is a little more geared towards kids.

Are you handicapped accessible?
Absolutely!  If you are in a wheelchair, or need any other special assistance or accommodations, please email Lisa@CanvasAndChardonnay.com.

I missed a painting that I really want to paint. How often will you repeat paintings?
Please let us know! We will definitely keep this in mind when scheduling the next months paintings.

When do the monthly calendars come out?

Classes are added all the time, but the full calendar is posted by the 20th of the previous month.
